Taliban Reports Over One Million Tons of Goods Transported via Afghanistan’s Railways in April 2026

The Taliban administration has announced that in the month of Sawr 1405 in the Solar Hijri calendar, more than one million metric tons of cargo were transported through the country’s railway lines. According to the administration, these transfers include the import and export of various goods via Afghanistan’s rail routes.

According to a statement released by the Taliban’s Ministry of Public Works, the Hairatan port recorded the highest volume of transfers at 688,474 tons. This port, located in the north of the country on the border with Uzbekistan, is considered one of Afghanistan’s most important trade gateways.

Additionally, 95,121 tons of goods were transported through the Aqina port and 97,369 tons via the Torghundi port. The Khaf-Herat railway route also witnessed the transfer of 122,857 tons of goods; this route connects Afghanistan to the regional railway network through Iran.

The statement mentioned that these shipments included petroleum products, non-petroleum goods, and other commercial items entering or leaving Afghanistan. The Taliban administration did not provide further details about the types of goods or their export destinations.
