Taliban Provincial Officials Meet in Kandahar to Discuss Security and Economic Issues

A coordination meeting of provincial governors from seven zones of the country was held at the Kandahar provincial office. According to the Taliban administration, the meeting focused on security, economic, and political matters, as well as the implementation of directives issued by the group’s leader.

According to a published statement, governors from Kandahar, Kabul, Balkh, Herat, Nangarhar, Kunduz, and Paktia provinces attended the meeting. Discussions also centered on strengthening security, organizing security and civil affairs, and preventing drug cultivation and trafficking.

The statement noted that necessary decisions were made regarding these topics; however, no details were shared with the public about the nature of these decisions or their implementation. This comes amid ongoing public demands for transparency in major decision-making processes and accurate communication with citizens.

The holding of such meetings among zone governors indicates the Taliban administration’s effort to improve coordination within provincial structures. Nevertheless, the lack of clear details about the practical outcomes of these meetings raises questions about their effectiveness and impact.
