WHO Warns Afghan Citizens to Follow Health Precautions During Qurbani Meat Distribution

The World Health Organization (WHO) in Afghanistan has urged citizens to strictly adhere to health measures during the distribution of Qurbani meat to prevent the spread of foodborne diseases.
On Tuesday, May 26, the organization emphasized on its X page that families should follow hygiene principles to protect the health of their family members and local residents. According to WHO, the distribution of unsafe meat can facilitate bacterial growth in raw meat and increase the risk of various diseases.
The WHO recommended that meat intended for distribution be securely packaged in strong plastic bags and stored in a clean, cold place prior to distribution. Following these guidelines can prevent contamination and the spread of germs.
This warning comes a day after the United Nations also alerted about the risk of Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever outbreak during the transportation and slaughter of animals during Eid. This viral disease is usually transmitted through contact with the blood or meat of infected animals, making health precautions especially important during such times.
