Tensions Rise Between Zelensky and European Officials, Reports Politico

Politico has reported that relations between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and several European officials have entered a tense phase following his sharp statements. According to the report, dissatisfaction among European officials has grown over Zelensky’s manner of speaking and his repeated criticisms of Europe.

Politico writes that some European officials have grown weary of Zelensky’s recent speeches. The publication notes that his tone toward Europe has become more commanding and critical this year, prompting negative reactions from several European Union member states.

A former senior Ukrainian diplomat told the publication that relations between Kyiv and Brussels are now facing severe tension. He stated that these relations are possibly at their lowest point since the start of the Ukraine war.

Meanwhile, the report adds that at the European Union summit held in Cyprus last April, Zelensky faced criticism from several European officials due to his insistence on Ukraine’s rapid membership in the union. He rejected the gradual membership process, which could take years, and called for an acceleration of the process; according to European sources, this has added to existing divisions.
