Mortar Explosion in Maidan Wardak Injures Six Children

The Maidan Wardak Disaster Preparedness Department has reported that six children were injured following the explosion of a mortar shell in Daymirdad district of the province. According to the department, the health condition of three of the injured is critical, and they have been transferred to Maidan Shar Provincial Hospital for treatment.
The statement released indicated that the incident took place yesterday in the village of Ormur, Daymirdad district. Based on the information provided, the children found a munition leftover from the war which detonated while they were handling it.
Officials added that three other children sustained superficial injuries. So far, no further details have been released regarding the identity or exact ages of the injured children.
Explosive remnants from past conflicts continue to pose a serious threat to civilians, especially children, in several areas of the country. Despite the recurrence of such incidents, the clearance of unexploded ordnance is proceeding slowly, and local residents have repeatedly called for more serious measures from the Taliban administration and responsible agencies.
It is noteworthy that yesterday explosions of shells in Parwan and Nangarhar provinces also caused casualties, including children.
