Flash Floods in Takhar and Badakhshan Kill Three and Cause Widespread Damage

Flash floods that swept through Takhar and Badakhshan provinces over the past two days have claimed the lives of three people and injured four others. Hundreds of acres of agricultural land have been destroyed, and dozens of residential homes have been damaged.
Local sources report that heavy rainfall caused rivers to overflow in several areas, inflicting extensive damage on residents. Many families, having lost their farmland, now face serious concerns about their livelihoods.
Meanwhile, the Takhar-Badakhshan highway has been closed to traffic due to flooding. This route is a vital transportation link in northeastern Afghanistan, and its closure has disrupted travel and the movement of goods.
Taliban officials have said that efforts are underway to reopen the blocked roads. However, local residents are calling for more immediate assistance and urgent aid to support those affected.
