50-Bed Maternity Hospital Opens in Samangan as Construction Begins on New 30-Bed General Hospital

The construction of the 50-bed obstetrics and maternity ward named ‘Martyr Dr. Karamuddin Wakilzadeh’ in Aibak city, the center of Samangan province, has been completed. Simultaneously, construction has begun on a new 30-bed general hospital in the Hazrat Sultan district of the province.

At a ceremony held to mark the occasion, Mawlavi Noor Jalal Jalali, the Taliban administration’s Minister of Public Health, stated that the ministry is committed to balanced development of health services across the country and strives to provide timely and quality services to citizens.

Additionally, Mullah Shoaib Resalat, the Taliban-appointed governor of Samangan, claimed that since the administration’s return to power, significant work has been carried out in various sectors, particularly in healthcare. This claim, however, requires transparent evaluation and equal access for all people in the region to health services.

Local residents have welcomed the completion and commencement of these projects, expressing hope for more public welfare initiatives in healthcare and other critical sectors. They emphasize that easy and sustainable access to medical services is a fundamental need in Samangan, a northern province of Afghanistan where several districts have been facing shortages of health facilities.
