Over 1,500 Acres of Land in Kabul Declared State Property by Taliban Judiciary

The Taliban’s Department of Justice has announced that more than 1,500 acres of land in western Kabul, known as ‘Shahrak Omid Sabz,’ have been officially designated as state property based on a ruling from a special court.

Barkatullah Rasooli, spokesperson for the department, stated on Monday that the special court handling cases of illegal occupation of government land in the central zone reviewed the documents and evidence concerning 1,507.49 acres of land and ruled that the entire area belongs to the state.

He added that this review was conducted within the framework of cases related to allegedly seized government lands. No further details were provided about the previous seizure of the land or the individuals involved.

In recent years, the issue of illegal occupation of government land in Kabul and several provinces has become one of the major property challenges. However, the transparency of the review process and the implementation of the rulings issued by the Taliban administration have often been questioned by some residents.
