Nimroz Police Explain Nighttime Gunfire as Security Measures Against Drone Threat

The Nimroz provincial police headquarters stated that the sounds of gunfire heard in some areas of the province last night are not a cause for concern and were part of security and defense measures carried out by security forces.
According to the police, an unmanned aerial vehicle (drone) was detected in Nimroz’s airspace, and security forces took necessary actions to ensure the safety and protection of the country’s airspace. No further details have been provided about the origin or type of the drone.
Smunyar Mullah Gul Mohammad Qadrat, spokesperson for the Nimroz police command, confirmed the situation is under control and there is no threat to the residents of the province.
However, while the Taliban administration assures full security, the lack of detailed information about the nature of the incident and how the drone may have entered the country’s airspace has raised questions among citizens about the transparency and oversight capacities of security institutions.
