Over 495 Kilograms of Drugs Seized in Three Afghan Provinces

Officials fighting drug trafficking have announced that in separate operations across the provinces of Kunduz, Helmand, and Jowzjan, a total of 495 kilograms of narcotics were discovered and confiscated. Additionally, an alcohol production center along with hundreds of liters of alcohol was identified and shut down.

According to these officials, 309 kilograms of drugs were seized in Kunduz and 186 kilograms in Helmand. In Jowzjan, a quantity of alcoholic and fermented beverages was also found and confiscated as a result of separate actions.

Following these incidents, five individuals were arrested and are set to be referred to judicial and legal institutions after initial investigations.

The Taliban administration has announced continued operations against drugs, having previously emphasized the fight against the cultivation, production, and trafficking of narcotics. However, experts consistently call for greater transparency regarding the destruction methods of seized substances and the fate of detainees’ cases to prevent the recurrence of production and trafficking cycles in certain areas.
