A traffic incident on the ring road of Jalalabad city, the capital of Nangarhar province, resulted in one death and 35 injuries. The event occurred last night, and according to local sources, the vehicle carrying migrants experienced a technical problem.
The Taliban police command in Nangarhar stated that the cause of the accident was technical faults in the vehicle. However, no further details were provided regarding the nature of the problem or the oversight of vehicle maintenance.
All the injured were transferred to Nangarhar Provincial Hospital. Officials from Nangarhar Public Health Directorate reported that the condition of some of the injured is critical.
Traffic accidents frequently occur on many highways and roads across Afghanistan. Driver negligence, lack of effective control over vehicle technical conditions, and substandard roads are considered factors that consistently threaten the lives of residents—issues that the Taliban administration is expected to address with practical and accountable measures to reduce such incidents.
