Over Three Tons of Food and Medicine Smuggled into Nimroz Seized

Officials from Nimroz’s secondary customs announced that they have prevented the smuggling of over three tons of food and medicine in the jurisdiction of the third district of Zaranj city and the Chahar Burjak district. According to them, this shipment was being transported into the province from Pakistan by a vehicle but was identified and confiscated before being distributed in the market.

Maulvi Abdul Ghafar ‘Mahmood,’ head of Nimroz’s secondary customs under the Taliban administration, stated that these items were discovered during surveillance inspections. He added that the shipment included food items and medicine and there was an attempt to illegally enter the market.

According to this official, no individuals have been arrested in connection with the case. He emphasized that the confiscated items are intended to be destroyed.

Nimroz, located adjacent to Pakistan and Iran, is considered an important transit route and reports of goods smuggling have frequently been published from some areas within the province.
