Serbia Reaffirms Support for One-China Principle Amid Taiwan Tensions

Aleksandar Vučić, the President of Serbia, stated that his country considers Taiwan to be part of China’s territory and emphasized Belgrade’s steadfast commitment to the “One-China” principle. He said Serbia’s position on this issue remains clear and unchanged.

In an interview with Zou Yun from the CMG network, Vučić underscored that the Taiwan issue is an internal matter for China, and Serbia supports Beijing’s official policy on the matter. The One-China principle forms the basis of the People’s Republic of China’s foreign policy regarding Taiwan and other disputed regions.

China has consistently insisted on adherence to this principle by other countries and regards it as a red line in its foreign policy. Beijing has warned that it will not accept any support for separatist movements in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, and Tibet.

Meanwhile, tensions between China and the United States over Taiwan’s status have escalated in recent years. The U.S., focusing on its Indo-Pacific strategy, has taken actions that China views as intensifying diplomatic rivalry and raising concerns about the possibility of military confrontation between the two powers.
