Taliban Authorities in Badakhshan Seize Nine Hunting Rifles to Combat Illegal Wildlife Hunting

The Taliban’s Agriculture and Livestock Department in Badakhshan announced on Tuesday, November 3, that nine hunting rifles were confiscated from poachers in the Kishim district to prevent illegal hunting of birds and wildlife. Despite these efforts, illegal hunting continues across various regions of Afghanistan using hunting rifles and military weapons, posing a serious threat to wildlife. Environmental experts have warned that without sustained and serious measures, different animal species in Afghanistan face the risk of extinction. It is worth noting that increased restrictions and security unrest following the Taliban’s rise to power have made environmental protection and combating illegal hunting more challenging.
