UNRWA Maintains Operations with 12,000 Staff in Gaza Amid Ongoing Challenges

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) has announced that its team of 12,000 personnel in the Gaza Strip continues to operate consistently despite difficult conditions.

According to the statement, UNRWA staff throughout 2025 have provided essential services including healthcare, psychosocial support, education, and access to drinking water for Gaza’s residents—services that play a vital role amid the region’s crisis.

UNRWA emphasized that the agency benefits from experienced personnel, specialized knowledge, and the trust of local communities; factors that have enabled the continuation of services even under insecure and restricted circumstances.

At the same time, the organization expressed concern over ongoing restrictions on humanitarian aid and operations, calling for the removal of these limitations so that UNRWA teams can operate on a larger scale and contribute to stabilizing the situation and reducing civilian suffering.
