WHO Delivers 78 Tons of Vital Medical Supplies to Afghanistan

The World Health Organization (WHO) has announced the transfer of 78.5 tons of essential medical equipment and supplies from its logistics hub in Dubai to Afghanistan. This shipment aims to strengthen life-saving healthcare services across various parts of the country.

According to the WHO office in Afghanistan, the emergency delivery includes measles treatment kits, medications for tuberculosis patients, specialized nutritional supplies for children suffering from severe malnutrition, surgical equipment, and other critical medical items.

The WHO stated that these aid supplies could cover over 419,000 people with health services and enable approximately 13,600 life-saving surgeries in hospitals and healthcare centers nationwide.

In recent years, Afghanistan has faced widespread public health challenges, including a shortage of medical facilities and rising healthcare needs in many regions. Under such circumstances, continuing humanitarian assistance is considered vital for maintaining essential health services.

The WHO also expressed gratitude for the cooperation of the United Arab Emirates in facilitating the shipment and for the ongoing support from donors and international partners in backing life-saving health services in Afghanistan.
