Afghanistan-Pakistan Talks Kick Off in Urumqi Hosted by China

Sources have confirmed to Shamshad media that talks between Afghanistan and Pakistan will begin today (Wednesday) in the city of Urumqi, hosted by China. Representatives from both sides will attend the meeting to discuss issues of mutual interest.

Despite confirmation from sources about the meeting, the Taliban administration has not yet officially commented on its participation in the talks. This silence comes amid recent ups and downs in relations between Kabul and Islamabad, with public opinion demanding greater transparency regarding the outcomes of such discussions.

On the other hand, Pakistani officials have also not officially confirmed their delegation’s participation in the Urumqi talks as of the time this report was published. China, which has sought in recent years to play a mediating role between the two parties, is hosting this round of discussions.

Further details about the main topics of negotiation and the level of representation from both countries have not yet been released. It is expected that more information will be provided to the media at the conclusion of the meeting.
