Flood Death Toll Rises to 28 Across 24 Afghan Provinces

Afghanistan’s National Disaster Management Authority, operating under the Taliban administration, has reported that severe rainfall and subsequent flooding over the past four days have resulted in 28 deaths and 49 injuries. This update was officially released today (Monday, 10th of Hamal).
According to the provided information, the death toll has increased compared to yesterday. The authority had previously announced 17 fatalities and 26 injuries, indicating new cases reported within the last 24 hours.
In addition to the human casualties, extensive material damage has been documented. The agency stated that 568 houses have been completely or partially destroyed, 1,130 families affected, and 93 kilometers of roads damaged. Furthermore, 2,901 jeribs of agricultural land and 1,938 trees have been destroyed, along with the death of 244 livestock animals.
These incidents have been recorded in the provinces of Badakhshan, Takhar, Baghlan, Samangan, Balkh, Jawzjan, Sar-e Pol, Faryab, Bamyan, Daikundi, Ghor, Badghis, Herat, Panjshir, Kapisa, Parwan, Laghman, Kabul, Nangarhar, Logar, Paktia, Paktika, Kandahar, and Helmand.
Afghanistan faces heavy rains and sudden floods every spring; however, criticism persists regarding the level of preparedness, prevention, and timely response to those affected. Many residents of vulnerable areas emphasize the urgent need for effective disaster management programs and immediate support for affected families more than ever before.
