Turkish Intelligence Chief Warns Military Action Against Iran Would Be a Mistake

The head of Turkey’s intelligence agency has stated that military operations against Iran are “a mistake” and emphasized the need to exert pressure on Israel to prevent the escalation of the war into a regional and global crisis. He highlighted that Ankara is undertaking extensive efforts to keep itself away from the ongoing conflicts in the Middle East.
Ibrahim Kalin, referring to recent developments, said the war with Iran is not limited merely to its nuclear capabilities. He believes some parties aim to push the region into decades of instability and conflict. Kalin warned that the continuation of this trend could have widespread consequences for regional security.
The senior Turkish official also pointed to recent Israeli attacks, noting that they occurred while US officials were discussing the possibility of talks with Iran. According to him, the attacks over the past two days could jeopardize efforts to advance the negotiation process.
Kalin stated that Turkey has launched extensive diplomatic efforts to prevent the war from spreading and called for containing tensions at the regional level. Turkey, which has played a mediating role in several regional crises in recent years, continues to emphasize de-escalation and preventing the crisis from becoming global.
