Women’s Clothing Workshop Relocates from Karachi to Kabul, Employs Returning Afghans

A women’s clothing workshop that previously operated in Karachi, Pakistan, has now transferred its equipment and activities to Kabul, providing employment for dozens of Afghans who have recently returned from Pakistan.
Officials at the workshop say most of its workers are individuals who have recently returned from Pakistan to Afghanistan and are seeking job opportunities within the country. This relocation comes amid ongoing economic challenges and a shortage of employment opportunities faced by many returnees.
A technical staff member at the workshop expressed hope that other traders involved in women’s clothing production, who previously operated in Karachi, will soon return to Afghanistan and continue their investments domestically.
In recent years, some Afghan traders and industrialists migrated to Pakistan due to economic conditions. The return of some of these investors now has the potential to create job opportunities for returnees. However, economic activists consistently emphasize the need for stability, support, and facilitation from the Taliban administration to sustain such investments.
