Iranian Missile Attack on Arad Kills 8, Injures Nearly 100

Israel’s emergency services have reported that at least eight people have been killed and nearly 100 others injured following a missile strike on the southern city of Arad. According to official sources, a state of emergency has been declared in the city, with rescue teams actively transferring the wounded to medical facilities in the affected areas.
Israeli media have reported that the condition of some of the injured is critical. The attack severely damaged nine buildings, while two others have completely collapsed. Released images from the scene show extensive damage to residential areas.
Channel 14, citing the Israeli military, stated that air defense systems attempted to intercept the missile in two phases but failed, allowing the approximately 450-kilogram missile to hit Arad directly. The Israeli Broadcasting Corporation has also announced that the Air Force has initiated an investigation into how the missile bypassed the defense systems.
Simultaneously, in response to the missile strikes on Arad and Dimona, schools in the cities of Sderot and Ashkelon have been closed for the day. Additionally, the Israeli cabinet plans to hold an emergency phone meeting to review the security situation.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described the night as “difficult” and emphasized the continuation of military actions. This attack comes amid rising military tensions between the two sides in recent weeks and growing concerns over the escalation of conflicts in the region.
