Houthi Official Calls for Closing US Bases as a Step to Reduce Regional Tensions

Mohammad Al-Farrah, a member of the political office of Yemen’s Houthi movement, has called on Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates to close US military bases on their territory to prevent the escalation of war. He emphasized that, according to the Houthis, the presence of these forces does not create security but rather increases the risk of conflict.

Al-Farrah also stated that Riyadh and Abu Dhabi need to reconsider their military relations with the United States and Israel. According to him, the shortest path to avoiding war and protecting oil facilities is to end the US military presence and to prevent American and Israeli warplanes from using the airspace of Gulf countries – warplanes that, he said, target Iran.

In another part of his remarks, the Houthi political office member referred to Saudi Arabia’s past attacks on Yemen, describing them as “an aggression against a neighboring Muslim country.” The war in Yemen, which began several years ago, is considered one of the region’s most complex crises and continues to have extensive political and security repercussions.
