Former Afghan Ambassador Warns Continued Conflict Will Harm Pakistan

Maulvi Abdulsalam Zaeef, former Afghan Ambassador to Islamabad, has warned that ongoing tensions and conflict with Afghanistan will be detrimental to Pakistan. He stated that Afghanistan’s reciprocal responses indicate that the continuation of the war could cause serious damage to the Pakistani side.
In a message on his X (formerly Twitter) page, Mr. Zaeef wrote that Pakistan should have understood by now that the ongoing situation will result in undesirable consequences. According to him, if tensions persist, the “flames of fire” will gradually spread to Pakistan’s safe and peaceful areas as well.
The former diplomat added that potential losses for Pakistan in this process would be several times greater than the benefits, which he referred to as the “American project.” He also emphasized that even efforts to appease “Biden” will not achieve the country’s objectives.
These remarks come as Afghanistan-Pakistan relations have been marked by ups and downs in recent years, with both sides accusing each other of various insecurities— a situation that has heightened concerns about escalating tensions in the region.
