Khalilzad Urges Pakistan to Immediately Reduce Tensions with Kabul

Zalmay Khalilzad, former US special envoy for Afghan peace, has called on Pakistan to promptly ease tensions with Kabul and return to the negotiating table. He warned that the continuation of the current situation could escalate the crisis on both sides of the border.

In a message posted on the social media platform X, Khalilzad stated that if tensions persist, Afghans might react; an action that, according to him, would lead to increased suffering and instability in both countries.

He also condemned recent attacks by Pakistan’s military regime on Afghan territories. These remarks come amid rising border tensions between the two sides in recent weeks, raising concerns about the spread of insecurity in the region.

Experts believe that ongoing border clashes not only cast a shadow over the political relations between Kabul and Islamabad but also directly affect the security situation and the lives of residents in the border areas.
