Taliban Information Ministry Praises Journalists and Political Analysts for Effective Efforts

On Tuesday, March 9, the Taliban’s Ministry of Information and Culture officially commended a number of journalists, political analysts, and media officials for their “effective efforts in fulfilling their responsibilities.” The event was attended by Shir Ahmad Haqqani, the acting head of the ministry, alongside several Taliban officials, political experts, and media representatives. According to the ministry, the meeting emphasized the critical role of media and analysts in raising public awareness.

During the ceremony, the acting minister stated that preserving the “current system” and ensuring security is a shared responsibility among all members of society. He added that in times of war and crisis, the stance of media and analysts can significantly contribute to increasing public awareness and strengthening the political consciousness of the people.

Haqqani further asserted that media outlets have the duty to clearly reflect facts and present a “realistic and documented” image of Afghanistan to the world. He claimed that among the people of Afghanistan, there is no linguistic, positional, or ethnic superiority, and that unity and brotherhood prevail throughout the country.

These remarks come amid ongoing concerns, as in recent years, numerous journalists and media organizations have reported facing restrictions, pressures, and constraints imposed by the Taliban administration. These issues have raised serious worries regarding freedom of expression and media independence in Afghanistan.
