Rubio Labels Afghanistan a Supporter of Illegal Detentions, Demands Release of American Prisoners

Marco Rubio, the United States Secretary of State, listed Afghanistan among countries supporting illegal detentions in a message on the social media platform X, criticizing the continued imprisonment of several American citizens in the country.
He emphasized that the Taliban administration continues to use what he described as “terrorist tactics” to gain political leverage; however, according to him, these methods will not yield results against the current US government. Donald Trump is currently serving as the President of the United States.
Rubio specifically called for the immediate release of Dennis Quill, Mahmoud Habibi, and other American citizens who, he stated, are unjustly imprisoned in Afghanistan.
In recent years, the detention of foreign nationals in Afghanistan has repeatedly caused tensions between the Taliban administration and Western countries. Human rights organizations have also previously expressed concern over the lack of transparency in judicial processes and the condition of prisons in areas under Taliban control.
