The Directorate of Rural Rehabilitation and Development in Maidan Wardak province has announced the commencement of construction on six water supply networks across several districts. Officials stated that these projects are being implemented with financial support from the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).

Ismatullah Karamat, head of the directorate in Maidan Wardak, said that the networks are being built in the districts of Nirkh, in the villages of Pirdad and Bazikhil; in Saydabad district, in the areas of Lachkhil and Amir Qala; in Chak district, in the village of Chaharmarda; and in Daymirdad district, in the village of Siyah Chaghur.

He added that the total cost of these projects is 37.5 million Afghanis and that dozens of individuals will be employed during implementation. Once completed, the networks will provide clean drinking water to 1,458 families.

Access to safe drinking water is a fundamental need for residents of rural areas in Maidan Wardak. However, citizens consistently emphasize that the Taliban administration must demonstrate greater transparency in executing development projects and effectively manage the monitoring and maintenance of these facilities to ensure sustainable services for the people.
