Planner of Kabul Bank Attack in Peshawar Killed in Shooting

Sources affiliated with Al-Mersad have reported that the planner of the attack on the Kabul Bank branch in Kunduz city was killed in a shooting by unidentified armed individuals in Peshawar, Pakistan. According to the report, the deceased was Zalmai Badakhshi, known as “Salman.”

According to the same source, Badakhshi was a key operational figure in the Khorasan branch of ISIS. After leaving Afghanistan in 2025, he relocated to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in Pakistan and joined the active centers of the group there.

The source added that he had a direct role in the 2025 attack on the Kabul Bank branch in Kunduz and was the main planner of that incident. No further details have been provided regarding how he was killed or the identities of the armed individuals who carried out the attack.

It has also been claimed that following increased pressure on ISIS in Afghanistan and Balochistan, the group has relocated some of its centers to the Tirah, Jabar Meela, Tordera, Orakzai, and Shalman areas within Pakistan.

Independent sources or Pakistani officials have not yet commented on the killing of this individual. Meanwhile, the ongoing activity and movement of extremist groups on both sides of the border have once again raised concerns about regional security and the management of cross-border threats—an issue that has consistently been questioned by oversight bodies and local residents.
