Germany Begins Official Distribution of Passports for Afghan Residents

The consulate affiliated with the Taliban administration in Bonn, Germany, has announced the official start of the process to issue and distribute passports to Afghan citizens residing in the country. According to the consulate’s statement, nearly four thousand passports are currently being printed and will soon be handed over to applicants.

The consulate’s newsletter stated that after the printing process is completed, these passports will be distributed among Afghan applicants and residents in Germany. However, the exact date for the start of distribution has not yet been specified.

Following recent political developments and the Taliban’s takeover in Afghanistan, consular services in many countries have faced legal and technical challenges. Some Afghans living in Europe have previously complained about delays in obtaining identity documents and limited access to consular services.

Germany is one of the countries hosting a significant population of Afghan refugees and migrants, for whom access to valid passports is essential for residence renewals, administrative procedures, and legal travel.
