Pakistan Urges Afghanistan to Prevent Use of Its Territory Against Islamabad

Pakistan’s Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister, Ishaq Dar, stated that despite his three visits to Afghanistan last year, the commitment to prevent the use of Afghan territory against Pakistan has not been fulfilled. Speaking at a press conference on Monday, Dar emphasized that Islamabad’s sole request to Kabul has been to forbid the use of Afghanistan’s land for hostile actions against Pakistan.
Regarding recent Pakistani strikes on parts of Afghanistan, he asserted that efforts are made during these operations to avoid harming civilians. According to him, the targets of these attacks are groups threatening Pakistan’s security.
Meanwhile, local officials in Afghanistan’s Kunar province reported that nearly 40 civilians have been killed or wounded as a result of Pakistani bombings in the area. They added that some residential areas were also affected by these strikes.
The Taliban administration has consistently maintained that the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and other armed groups opposing Islamabad are internal matters for Pakistan. It claims it does not allow Afghan territory to be used against other countries; however, ongoing border tensions and civilian casualties indicate a lack of a clear mechanism to prevent such incidents and to protect residents of border areas.
