Pakistan Reports Killing 331 Taliban Members in Recent Military Operations

Pakistan’s Minister of Information and Media announced that at least 331 members of the Taliban have been killed and over 500 others injured as a result of recent military operations conducted by Pakistan against the Afghan Taliban, Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan, and affiliated armed groups. According to the minister, these figures were recorded up to 9 a.m. on Saturday, February 28.

In a statement released on the Express network, Attaullah Tarrar added that Pakistani forces have destroyed 104 Taliban bases and captured 22 others. He also claimed that 163 tanks and armored vehicles were disabled during these operations.

The Pakistani official stated that airstrikes were carried out at 37 locations inside Afghanistan. Pakistani authorities announced that these strikes targeted the provinces of Nangarhar, Kandahar, and Paktia, while simultaneously operations were conducted in parts of the Chitral region within Pakistan.

These air attacks inside Afghanistan have once again highlighted issues of national sovereignty and the Taliban administration’s inability to control armed groups based in border areas. Critics have previously argued that the continued presence of extremist groups in border regions has fueled further tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan.
