Japan Pledges Support for 60,000 Vulnerable People in Afghanistan

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has announced that, with new aid from the Japanese government, 60,000 people in vulnerable communities across Afghanistan will benefit from water, sanitation, and child protection services.

According to UNICEF Afghanistan, the assistance will cover areas facing emergencies, natural disasters, and displacement. The program aims to provide affected families with access to safe drinking water, sanitation services, and special support for children at risk.

The Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) sector includes the provision of clean water, sanitation facilities, and the promotion of hygienic behaviors, which play a vital role in preventing disease outbreaks during crises. Meanwhile, child protection programs focus on resilience, mental health, and ensuring children’s access to essential services.

UNICEF, in a press release, expressed gratitude for Japan’s collaboration and emphasized that continued support is crucial to address the growing needs of vulnerable families in Afghanistan.
