Afghanistan and Iran Hold New Border Talks in Kabul to Strengthen Security Cooperation

The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Kabul has announced that a new round of high-level border talks between Afghanistan and Iran has taken place, with both sides emphasizing the strengthening of cooperation to ensure border security.
According to the statement, the meeting focused on maintaining secure borders and coordinated management of border issues, which was identified as a key aspect of bilateral relations. Both parties also pledged closer coordination and cooperation to address potential challenges along the border.
The Afghanistan-Iran border is a crucial route for travel, trade, and local interactions, and its security holds particular importance for residents of the border areas. Therefore, regular talks between officials from both sides can play a vital role in reducing tensions and better managing border matters.
This comes amid recent conflicts along the Durand Line, the de facto border between Afghanistan and Pakistan, highlighting once again the importance of effective border management and tension prevention along the country’s frontiers.
