Pakistan Prime Minister Discusses Regional Security with Qatari Officials Amid Rising Tensions with Kabul

Amid escalating tensions between Kabul and Islamabad, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held official talks with senior Qatari officials on regional security during his visit to Qatar. Pakistani media reported that in a meeting with Qatar’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs, Sharif discussed not only bilateral issues but also exchanged views on the situation in Afghanistan and Iran. No further details regarding the discussions have been released; however, the meeting takes place at a time when relations between the Taliban administration in Kabul and Islamabad have been marked by verbal and security tensions in recent weeks. Over the past years, Qatar has played a mediating role in certain regional matters, particularly concerning Afghanistan, hosting key political meetings related to the country. The Pakistani leader’s visit to Doha can be viewed within the context of regional consultations aimed at managing security challenges.
