Moldova Bans Flights from Afghanistan and Over 20 Other Countries Amid Safety Concerns

The Moldovan government has announced a ban or restriction on flight operations of airlines from more than 20 countries, including Afghanistan, within its airspace and airports. This decision was made due to concerns related to flight safety, with a large number of the affected airlines facing a complete ban.

According to the directive signed by Vladimir Bolea, Moldova’s Deputy Prime Minister, over 200 airlines are subject to these restrictions. Among the countries included in this decision are Afghanistan, Russia, Iran, and North Korea.

Details released indicate that most of these airlines will not be permitted to use Moldovan airspace or airports. However, limited operational permits have been granted to some.

Moldovan officials have stated that the ban will remain in effect until the country joins the European Union. In recent years, Moldova has sought to accelerate its integration process with European structures.
