Taliban Authorities Destroy Illegal Drug Warehouse in Helmand

Taliban officials in Helmand province have announced the discovery and destruction of a warehouse containing illegal and counterfeit drugs in Gereshk district. According to them, this warehouse was used to store low-quality and unlawful medications.
Local authorities reported that these items were intended to be sold in the market coinciding with the start of Ramadan. They have not provided specific details regarding the exact volume of the drugs or the identities of those involved in this case.
The influx of low-quality and smuggled medicines into the market has long been a serious concern for citizens, especially during high-demand periods like Ramadan. The lack of effective and transparent oversight of the medicine market in recent years has been repeatedly criticized by residents and health experts, who have called on the Taliban administration to establish clear and accountable mechanisms to prevent such incidents.
