Pakistan’s PM Shahbaz Sharif to Attend Gaza Peace Board Meeting Hosted by Trump; Islamabad Rejects Hamas Disarmament Clause

International media report that Shahbaz Sharif, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, is set to participate in the inaugural meeting of the member countries of the “Gaza Peace Board,” to be hosted by US President Donald Trump in the United States. However, Islamabad has announced that it rejects part of the plan, particularly the clause related to the disarmament of Hamas.

According to the official position of the Pakistani government, the country’s military will only participate within the framework of a peacekeeping mission and will not be involved in the process of disarming Hamas. Pakistani officials have emphasized that any potential participation will be limited to oversight and peacekeeping roles.

Meanwhile, reports indicate that before potentially deploying Pakistani forces to Gaza as part of an international contingent, Islamabad will thoroughly review the mission, objectives, authorities, and command structure of the so-called “International Gaza Peace Force” (ISF).

These developments come amid widespread negative reactions within Pakistan regarding the possibility of the country’s involvement in the Gaza peace plan. Several religious and political parties have considered this move as direct alignment with Israel and have opposed it.

Under Trump’s proposed plan, a joint framework with an oversight role for Muslim countries is to be established for the reconstruction and economic revival of Gaza, and Pakistan has been invited to join this process. Although Islamabad has not accepted all parts of this program, Washington has so far not issued an official response to Pakistan’s new stance; however, the member countries of the Board are obligated to comply with the provisions of its charter.
