Taliban Authorities in Uruzgan Confirm Destruction of Former Military Commander’s Grave

The Taliban’s Security Command in Uruzgan province has confirmed the destruction of the grave of a former military commander and announced that investigations to identify the perpetrators have begun. The grave belonged to Sediqullah, the former district commander of Charchino.
Bilal Uruzgani, spokesperson for the Taliban’s Security Command in Uruzgan, stated that on Saturday night the grave of Sediqullah in the Martyrs Cemetery in the city of Tarinkot was desecrated. He did not provide further details about how the incident occurred or any potential suspects.
Earlier, relatives of Sediqullah reported the destruction of his grave and called for a serious follow-up on the matter. Sediqullah was killed in 2021.
The destruction of graves, particularly those of former military personnel, occurs amid ongoing concerns expressed by many families of former government soldiers about threats and pressures. It is expected that the Taliban administration, alongside announcing investigations, will provide transparent and accountable results to prevent the recurrence of such incidents.
