Former Pakistani Envoy Asf Drani Urges Concrete Action for Stability in Afghanistan

Asf Drani, former Pakistani envoy on Afghanistan affairs, has stated that stability in Afghanistan is fundamentally important for regional and global security. He emphasized that this stability cannot be achieved through mere verbal assurances but requires concrete actions against armed groups and sustained multilateral oversight.
In a message on the social media platform X, Drani stressed the need for specific and practical steps to prevent security threats. He noted that Afghanistan’s situation directly impacts the security of neighboring countries.
Drani also reiterated claims that security threats emanate from Afghan soil towards Pakistan and some other countries—an assertion previously made by Pakistani officials.
The Taliban administration has repeatedly rejected these claims, asserting it will not allow Afghanistan’s territory to be used against other countries. However, the persistence of these concerns indicates that the Taliban government has so far failed to fully earn regional trust in managing security threats. This issue could affect Afghanistan’s political and economic relations with its neighbors.
