Iran and Afghanistan Officials Discuss Land Transport and Oil Cooperation

The Iranian Embassy in Kabul announced that Seyed Ali Mohammad Mousavi, Deputy for International and Commercial Affairs at Iran’s Ministry of Petroleum, met with Abdul Salam Haidari, Deputy for Land Transport at the Taliban’s Ministry of Transport and Aviation. During this meeting, both sides discussed resolving existing issues and obstacles in land transportation between the two countries.
According to published information, the focus of this meeting was on addressing challenges faced by transport companies and facilitating the movement of goods via land routes. Iran accesses some regional markets through Afghanistan transit routes, which hold significant economic importance for both sides.
The Iranian Embassy also added that Mousavi held a separate meeting with Mohammad Nasir Rahimi, CEO of Afghanistan’s state-owned Oil and Gas Company. In this meeting, the two parties exchanged views on bilateral cooperation in the oil and gas sector.
Rahimi emphasized the potential of Iran in producing petroleum products and stressed the development of long-term cooperation between the two countries in this sector. Iran is one of the main suppliers of fuel products to the Afghan market, and any agreements in this field could significantly impact the supply and transportation of fuel in Afghanistan.
