Taliban Intelligence Announces Complaint Channel Against Its Officers

The General Directorate of Intelligence of the Taliban announced in a statement that Afghan residents can register and submit complaints if they witness misconduct or have grievances against the employees and forces of this directorate.

According to the statement, communication methods for filing complaints include phone calls as well as the use of the ‘Signal’ messaging network; a method that, according to the directorate, enables direct transmission of problems and complaints.

This announcement comes at a time when the Taliban intelligence agency is regarded by human rights organizations and parts of the community as one of the closed and intimidating structures of the administration, with ongoing concerns about its immunity, transparency, and accountability.

Critics say that without clear guarantees for the security of complainants and independent investigation of complaints, such announcements cannot alleviate existing concerns, emphasizing the increasing need for transparent and reliable mechanisms.
