Afghan Ministry of Public Works: Most Major Highways Reopened Following Reduced Snowfall

The Taliban-run Ministry of Public Works has announced that following a decrease in snowfall, most of the country’s major highways across various provinces are now open for travel.

Mohammad Ashraf Haqshenas, spokesperson for the ministry, shared a video on the social media platform X, stating that traffic is currently flowing without issues on the majority of main routes, and restrictions caused by snowdrifts have been lifted in many areas.

However, he noted that in some provinces, particularly Ghor and Badakhshan, certain routes remain blocked due to weather conditions and accumulated snow.

The ministry’s provincial offices are working diligently to clear the remaining routes and reopen them to travelers as soon as possible, Haqshenas added.
