Construction of Water Dam Begins in Nawzad District, Helmand to Alleviate Drought Impact

Construction of a water dam has commenced in the elevated areas of Nawzad district in Helmand province. According to local officials, this project could help mitigate some of the drought-related problems in the district.

Dr. Ahmad Jan Nawzadi stated that upon completion of the dam, agricultural lands will be irrigated again, creating favorable conditions for the growth of crops. He added that this initiative could also facilitate the return of some residents to their villages.

In recent years, Nawzad district has suffered from severe drought and water shortages, which have led to a decline in agricultural production and the displacement of some residents. There is now hope that this project will address some of these challenges.
