Ruling Party Secures Decisive Victory in Thailand’s General Election

In Thailand’s general election, the ruling Bhumjaithai Party, led by Anutin Charnvirakul, secured a clear lead, winning the most parliamentary seats and solidifying its political power.
According to the preliminary results announced by the Election Commission after counting about 95% of polling stations, the party won nearly 192 out of 500 parliamentary seats. This outcome created a significant gap between the ruling party and its main competitors.
The People’s Party obtained 117 seats, placing second, while the Pheu Thai Party secured 74 seats. Other parties collectively took 117 parliamentary seats.
Anutin Charnvirakul assumed power after the dismissal of former Prime Minister Patthongtarn Shinawatra and dissolved parliament less than 100 days later, an action that paved the way for this election. According to Reuters, the recent management of the conflict with Cambodia was one of the key factors that helped strengthen the ruling party’s position among voters.
