Iran Ready for Deterrent Response to Any Hostile Actions, Says Top Defense Official
Ali Shamkhani, Iran’s Supreme Leader’s representative on the National Security Council, stated that Iran is prepared to deliver a deterrent and effective response to any hostile action. He emphasized that Tehran’s message on this matter is clear and explicit.
In an interview with Al Mayadeen network, Shamkhani said that any sign of hostile intent from the opposing side will be met with a proportionate reaction. According to him, this response will not be limited to a specific area or geography, as various scenarios have been considered in Iran’s defense calculations.
He stressed that countermeasure options are not confined solely to the maritime domain and that preparations are in place to confront threats on a broader scale. Shamkhani added that understanding the defensive elements in the region forms the basis for Iran’s formulation of both defensive and offensive doctrines.
The Supreme Leader’s representative also revealed that operational plans of the opposing side have been identified and that timely responses will be delivered to prevent the advancement of these plans. He held the party resorting to shows of force responsible for any potential consequences of escalations.
Shamkhani concluded with a warning that an expansion of conflict and its spread across the region could become a shared concern for all actors, stressing that this should be taken into account in political and security calculations.
