Taliban Officials Stress Unity in Appointment of New Bamyan Governor

At the inauguration ceremony of the new governor of Bamyan, several Taliban officials emphasized “internal unity” and called on former government officials and political figures living abroad to return to Afghanistan and participate in the country’s reconstruction.
Noorullah Ansar, General Director of Accident Response and Firefighting, stated at the event that internal disagreements make the country vulnerable and stressed that “Afghanistan’s enemies” are still active and seeking to create crises. He described unity and trust among citizens as the only way to confront these threats.
The Taliban official also claimed that former government officials live in the country without discrimination and are safe. Referring to the comings and goings of some well-known political figures, Ansar urged Afghan politicians residing abroad to return to Afghanistan and resume their normal lives. This claim comes amid reports and field experiences that raise serious concerns about the security, freedoms, and political rights guarantees for returnees.
At the same event, Gul Haidar Shafaq, the new governor of Bamyan, promised to work hard to serve the province’s residents and asked the people to cooperate with the local administration on this path. He emphasized that without the support of the people, effective service delivery is impossible.
Abdullah Sarhadi, the former governor of Bamyan, also attributed the province’s relative security to the cooperation of the local people and said that no administration can ensure security alone without the support of residents.
Finally, several residents of Bamyan called on local officials to provide government services fairly and to address the people’s problems promptly—a demand that, amid limited resources and centralized decision-making within the Taliban administration, continues to face serious doubts and concerns.
