UN Agency Launches Emergency Education for Displaced Children in West Bank

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) has announced that over 12,000 children in the occupied West Bank remain forcibly displaced from their homes. Following the Israeli military operation dubbed ‘Iron Wall’ in northern West Bank, UNRWA initiated an emergency education program for displaced children in February 2025. According to UNRWA, the program aims to ensure the continuity of education for displaced students by establishing temporary learning spaces, providing online education, distributing self-learning materials, and offering psychosocial support. UNRWA also emphasized that approximately 48,000 children in the occupied West Bank are enrolled in schools affiliated with the agency; however, ongoing conflicts and military operations have seriously hindered children’s safe and consistent access to education.
