Trump Says US Could Have Won War in Afghanistan if Not for Political Concerns

Donald Trump, the President of the United States, stated that his country had the capability to end the war in Afghanistan with a victory, but political concerns prevented that outcome.
Trump made these remarks during a ceremony commemorating the 225th anniversary of the founding of the United States Navy on Sunday, October 5. Referring briefly to the country’s prolonged battles in Vietnam and Afghanistan, he said that victory in both wars was possible, but ‘political issues’ were the obstacle.
He added, ‘We could have easily won in Afghanistan, but politics changed everything.’
Trump has repeatedly criticized the chaotic withdrawal of American forces from Afghanistan and considered it a serious failure for the United States. He has blamed former President Joe Biden for this withdrawal, which led to the Taliban’s takeover of Kabul.
While Afghanistan has faced a humanitarian crisis and severe repression under Taliban rule following the US withdrawal, Trump says that domestic politics should no longer hinder military decisions and that victory must be the priority.
These comments come as some observers believe that neglecting the security and human rights situation in Afghanistan paved the way for the Taliban’s return. Trump’s statements have once again drawn attention to the US withdrawal process and its responsibilities toward Afghanistan.
