Taliban Appoints New Governors for Bamyan and Jowzjan, Names Two Police Commanders

According to a recent decree by the Taliban leadership, Gul Haider Shafaq, previously serving as the governor of Jowzjan, has been appointed as the governor of Bamyan. Conversely, Abdullah Sarhadi, the former governor of Bamyan, has been assigned a new role as the governor of Jowzjan.
Continuing these changes, Zabihullah Mujahid, the Taliban administration’s spokesperson, announced the appointment of Makhdoom Abdul Kabir as the police commander of Samangan. Previously, he served as a company commander within the Sar-e-Pul province brigade.
Similarly, Mohammad Ismail Faiz, who earlier headed the intelligence department of Kunduz province, has been introduced as the police commander of Laghman. These appointments come amid the Taliban administration’s ongoing reshuffling of provincial administration and security institutions, without providing clear explanations regarding selection criteria or accountability to local bodies.
