Belarus President Lukashenko Condemns Drone Attack on Putin’s Residence as ‘State Terrorism’

Alexander Lukashenko, the President of Belarus, has described the recent drone attack on Russian President Vladimir Putin’s residence in the Novgorod region as an example of “state terrorism at the highest level.” According to Russian media reports, Lukashenko called the targeting of the Russian president’s residence a highly organized act that goes beyond a conventional military strike and strongly condemned the attack.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that Ukraine launched an attack using 91 drones on Vladimir Putin’s state residence in the Novgorod region on December 29. Lavrov labeled the action a terrorist attack and emphasized that Moscow would not leave it unanswered.

Meanwhile, Maria Zakharova, spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, also said that targeting Putin’s residence would be met with “retaliatory measures,” although she did not provide further details.

These developments come amid speculation about a possible increase in peace talks in Ukraine following Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s meeting with US President Donald Trump. However, Russian officials claim that certain European countries, particularly the United Kingdom, oppose the peace process and have even unofficially accused London of involvement in the attack—claims that have not been independently verified.
